We have been listening to Iowans and know we can have a better healthcare system than the privatized Medicaid being pushed by the Branstad-Reynolds Administration.
That’s why the Senate took a bipartisan vote to stop the Governor’s privatized Medicaid plan, which puts the health and wellbeing of more than 560,000 Iowans at risk. Unfortunately, House Republican leaders have indicated they will not take up that common-sense legislation.
In response, the Senate Human Resources Committee has approved robust oversight legislation to protect Iowa families if we are unsuccessful in stopping the Governor’s ill-conceived plan.
SF 2107 will ensure investments in system improvements, not just private company profits. The bill provides for meaningful stakeholder involvement, data collection that ensures we get the expected results, and contract changes to guarantee providers and members are treated fairly.
We must continue our work to ensure Iowans see improved health, better access to care and fiscal responsibility.
